Greens update

Dry patch on greens.

Dry patch has become an issue on certain greens. This is the 13th green which has been badly affected. Dry patch coats the soil particles in a waxy material that makes them water repellent. We have opened up the dry spots with a small mini tine and applied wetting agent material through a hose end applicator.  Blanket spraying with a retention wetting agent will be done this week to all greens to re-hydrate the dry soil. It has been very dry this month with only 12mm of rain recorded.

Extra rough areas.

These maps show where we will manage more of the rough areas around the golf course. These are mainly at the pinch points where it is difficult for members to find the fairway. They will be cut on a regular basis at 70mm mowing height.

Nursery road.

The worn track to the turf nursery was repaired. We have dug up the grass and mud and laid hardcore to create a permanent road. This will be coated with quarry dust to ensure it looks the same as the other paths on the golf course.
